Frequently Asked Questions about Relationship Counselling & Therapy

What can I expect in therapy?

We will address the challenges and concerns that brought you to therapy.  Initially I will ask for some details about your concerns and their impact on your life. We will discuss what you would like to gain from our meetings. Sessions are typically 50 minutes long, although longer can be arranged (this is often requested by couples).  I encourage working between sessions by reading books, doing exercises or journaling.

When are your appointments?

Appointments are available week days and evenings.

What is your fee?

The fee is discussed in an initial phone conversation or session.  We can go over your requirements and circumstances.  My services are covered by workplace benefits.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes, therapists are required to keep client information confidential.  I do not release your information without written consent.   The exceptions to this policy are when a child may be at risk of abuse or harm or a client is planning to harm him/herself or someone else. Provincial law requires that the appropriate authorities be notified. Rarely, a court of law can issue an order for the client record and therapists are required by law to comply.

What is your cancellation policy?

24 hours is required to cancel an appointment or the full fee is charged.

Are your services covered under OHIP?

No. However, my services are covered by workplace benefits.

What methods of payment do you accept?

Cash, cheque or Interact email transfer.

Can I contact you by email or texting?

I am able to arrange appointments by text or email.  Be sure to include your name.  I am not set up to respond to requests for support including via social media.
